Characteristics OF EXPONENTIAL FUNCTIONS!!!!!

Asymptote A line that a graph gets closer and closer to, but never crosses or touches

Intercepts x-intercept – the point at which the line intersects the x-axis at (x, 0) y-intercept – the point at which the line intersects the y-axis at (0, y)

Increasing & Decreasing MOVE LEFT TO RIGHT ! If your finger is going up, the graph is INCREASING If your finger is going down, the graph is DECREASING If your finger doesn’t go up or down…then the graph is CONSTANT

Domain and Range Domain: The set of all possible INPUTS (often the “x” variable) Range: The set of all possible OUTPUTS (often the “y” variable)

Rate of Change Rate of Change: The amount of incline (slope) at a part of a function. The change in Y divided by the change in the X values.

End Behavior End Behavior: The behavior of the graph as x approaches INFINITY or NEGATIVE infinity. What is the function doing when x approaches infinity?
