Building Your Degree - Pathways Slide 1 Life Impact | The University of Adelaide The General Degree The degree consists of 24 courses totalling 72 units and is split into three levels. Each level consists of 8 courses: –4 Commerce Courses –4 Elective Courses Level I contains 4 preselected core Commerce Courses: –Accounting for Decision Makers I –Principles of Macroeconomics I –Principles of Microeconomics I –Business and Economics Statistics I The General Degree structure provides the framework on to which pathways are built.

Building Your Degree - Pathways Slide 2 Life Impact | The University of Adelaide Pathways A Pathway is a specialisation within the General Degree framework. There are 5 Pathways: –Accounting –Corporate Finance –International Business –Management –Marketing Each Pathway contains a combination of courses which must be completed, and a set of rules which must be followed if a student wishes to be awarded a Pathway. It is possible to have a Pathway listed on your degree parchment (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)) With careful planning two Pathways maybe completed within the General Degree Framework.

Click on the Graphic below to add a Corporate Finance and then the Accounting Pathway to the General Degree.

Building Your Degree - Pathways Slide 6 Life Impact | The University of Adelaide Points of Note Pathways may have additional rules and courses not listed in these slides, please consult the program rules before finalising a Pathway. Only one Pathway maybe listed on the Degree Parchment, the second Pathway is recognised with a letter from the Head of School. Pathways involve an ongoing enrolment you may drop, change or add a Pathway to the degree plan at anytime. However you MUST insure that you still meet the rules required of the Bachelor of Commerce in order to graduate, for example: –When adding a Pathway after the initial enrolment there is still room in the Degree Structure for the required courses of your new Pathway. –When dropping a Pathway the required number of Commerce level II and III are still completed. Prerequisites and assumed knowledge should be completed before attempting a course. Details can be found in the Course Planner.Course Planner Elective courses can be taken from any Faculty
