SUMMARY 2 Energy Management Introduction & Requirement by Tianyu Shi & Krago The EMAN working group provides a forum for energy management. By creating information models that describe devices and their use with respect to power and energy, network administrators can achieve energy management with a sophistication on par with other network management areas. We propose that by introducing context, power/energy descriptions, monitoring, and state control, administrators can create sophisticated energy management and analytic management systems. This Paper Introduces The Backgroud Of The IETF EMAN Working Group Analyzes The Goals Requirements, framework And Mibs.

OUTLINE Introduction IEFT EMAN Working Group Goals Conclusion Requirements for energy Energy management Framework Energy related MIB 3 Energy Management Introduction & Requirement by Tianyu Shi & Krago

INTRODUCTION The requirement of reducing the energy cost and achieving the energy sustainability. At the ietf meeting in 2009, the first time energy - management (eman) was discussed. In august 2010, eman working group was established. 4 Energy Management Introduction & Requirement by Tianyu Shi & Krago

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENERGY MANAGEMENT Definition of the requirements Aims of the energy management Functions Monitor Control 6 Energy Management Introduction & Requirement by Tianyu Shi & Krago

ENERGY MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK Create a information model(framework) for managing energy more efficient Identify and classify devices, describe the relationship. Work with existing facilities and control systems to manage energy Energy management i.Identify ii.Monitor iii.Control iv.Procure 7 Energy Management Framework by Jing yang & Steve Sam

Information Model & Energy Object A Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) [RFC4122] is used to uniquely and persistently identify an Energy Object. Ideally the UUID is used to distinguish the Energy Object within the EnMS. Object name can be the device's DNS name, Mac address, etc Importance Keywords Role Domain Define the need for specific battery information Having a unique identifier(UUID) and simple relationships allows complex topologies to be simplified in a mode. Power Source Metering Aggregation 8 Power State Set Power Levels This graph quote form IETF 81 EMAN ref materials Visualizing Power & Energy

MODELLING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN DEVICES In order to improve the energy consumption efficiency, the first step should enable the network equipment can report their energy consumption by themselves. EMAN defines the reference models of energy consumption monitoring to standardize energy management method. The most basic way of energy consumption management is making equipment can report themselves En consumption situation through the network protocol. 9 Energy Management Framework by Jing yang & Steve Sam

CONCLUSION This Presentation 1. Analyzed The Requirement Of EMAN 2. Summarized The Framework 3. Gave Definitions Of Related MIB Recommendation: EMAN can be achieved on par with other management areas. Can contribute to optimization of energy use worldwide. Security should be considered Readable objects in mib modules may be considered sensitive or vulnerable in some network environments. 21 Energy related MIB by Sebastian Marin & Xi Yang
