Pok-a-Tok The Mayan ball game

How To Play The game of Pok-a-Tok was played by trying to pass the ball through the stone rings It was so hard to get the ball through the ring, if you did pass the ball through it, you automatically won the game There were also markers on the wall that could be hit for a point

The Spectators Scientists think that this is where the king or ruler sat and watched the game The other people attending the game sat at the top of the tall walls

The Wall Carvings These wall carvings depicted the game The carvings also showed either the winning or losing captain of the team being sacrificed

Why the Game Was Played The game of pok-a-tok was played at religious ceremonies It was most famous in the city of Chichen Itza, which held the game’s largest field
