an Internet bookmark acts as a marker for a Web site

a method for Internet users to organize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online. (taken from ocial_bookmarking ) ocial_bookmarking

A free web based resource that allows a user to: Bookmark web sites, Highlight text Add sticky notes with their own comments. Add tags or keywords to their bookmarks Allow other users to add their own sticky notes and comments. All of this can be done from any device that can access the internet (computer, laptop, smartphone, iPad, iPod touch, etc.)

Bookmark web sites Create Lists of bookmarks

Add tags or keywords to their to bookmarks Makes it easy to search and find your bookmarks

Highlighting: Diigo allows a user to highlight a web page just like a yellow highlighter lets you highlight text on a piece of paper or a book.

Taking Notes: With Diigo, you can add notes to a web page just like you can add a note in the margins of an article printed on paper. Also, if others have added sticky notes to a web page, you can see who made those comments and when.

Allow other users to add their own sticky notes and comments. Share lists of bookmarks with other users Allow other users to add to your list of bookmarks = collective knowledge

All of this can be done from any device that can access the internet (computer, laptop, smartphone, iPad, iPod touch, etc.)

Collaborate: col·lab·o·rate [kuh-lab-uh-reyt] verb: to work, one with another; cooperate, as on a literary work: They collaborated on a novel. ( rate ) rate

Collaborative learning is a situation in which two or more people learn or attempt to learn something together. Unlike individual learning, people engaged in collaborative learning capitalize on one anothers resources and skills (asking one another for information, evaluating one anothers ideas, monitoring one anothers work, etc.). Annotate : an·no·tate [an-uh-teyt] verb (used with object) 1. to supply with critical or explanatory notes; comment upon in notes: For example: to annotate the works of Shakespeare. ( ) notes

Tag: On clothes, tags usually indicate the brand, size of the garment, fabrics used, and the washing instructions. In Web pages, tags indicate what should be displayed on the screen when the page loads. ( ) In Social Bookmarking, a tag is a keyword that describes the content of the web page being bookmarked.

Tags help describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching. Tags are generally chosen informally and personally by the item's creator or by its viewer, depending on the system. Tagging was popularized by websites associated with Web 2.0 and is an important feature of many Web 2.0 services. ( 29 )Web 2.0http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_%28metadata% 29
