Express Joystick System

Twin Disc developed the EJS in response to the market demand for improved maneuverability and handling of yachts. With the introduction of the POD propulsion systems and the accompanying joysticks, more owners feel comfortable operating large yachts without licensed captains The EJS provides slow speed control of traditional shaft/propeller vessels with performance exceeding any POD controlled vessel

EJS Overview Twin Disc incorporates all propulsion components into the control of a single joystick to allow optimum maneuverability

EJS Requirements To incorporate EJS into a boat specification, the following propulsion components are required: –Electronically governed engines –Twin Disc QuickShift ® Marine Transmission –Twin Disc EC300 Power Commander –Hydraulic Bow Thruster (with proportional control) –Hydraulic Stern Thruster is Optional (with proportional control)

M EJS sys

EJS Operation The EJS was designed to be very intuitive for the vessel operator Twisting the joystick will result in rotation of the vessel on its center point Moving the joystick in any direction will propel the boat in the direction while maintaining its heading The amount of directional movement of the joystick is proportional to the thrust delivered by the propulsion system (e.g. moving the joystick hard to the right will provide greater thrust than just nudging it to the right

EJS Station Select Button actions related to Tuning 1.Four seconds on EJS button will initiate the tuning process IF EJS-MFST is active and set to the tuning window 2.Double button push will suspend the tuning any time 3.Single button push with joystick off center will save adjustment 4.Single button push with joystick at center will move to next point 5.EC300 station select button press will also suspend the tuning process for safe management of the boat NOTE: To resume tuning from a suspension, press and release the EJS station select button and wait for the prompt on the MFST laptop screen

EJS Technology The EJS system provides the fastest response and vessel control due to the QuickShift ® technology –QuickShift ® clutches transmit torque in 50 milliseconds compared to 1-2 seconds via standard clutch technology –Dual clutch piston allows for slow speed control of propeller => down to 30 rpm

EJS Summary The EJS provides shipyards and operators easy, and complete joystick control of vessels with standard shaftline installations. No other propulsion system can match the smoothness and immediate response of the QuickShift ® clutch technology
