Interest Groups Private Organization of individuals working together to promote a common cause by trying to persuade public officials to respond Seek to influence public policy

Lobbyists Individuals who interact w/ elected officials to advocate for their group/cause Goal influence politicians & public policy Provide info to Congress

PAC- Political Action Committee Organized collaboration of individuals that advocate for their cause/group by creating TV ads, reaching voters, working with elected officials and hiring lobbyists

Political Parties vs. Interest Groups (put at the bottom of your graphic organizer) Nominate Interested in winning elections & controlling government Concerned w/ whole range of public affairs w/ everything of concern to voters Support candidates Concerned w/ controlling or influencing the policies of government Concentrate on issue(s) that most directly affect the interest of their members
