Levels of Organization Cells: Part II Levels of Organization

Many celled organisms ARE NOT just mixed up collections of different types of cells. They are ORGANIZED in a certain way. The levels of organization are as follows:

CELLS Organized so they can work together. Sickle cell Normal cell

TISSUES Groups of similar cells that all do the same sort of work. Examples: blood, muscle, bone Muscle tissue is made of muscle cells, bone tissue is made of bone cells, etc.

Tissue within the stomach

ORGANS Different types of tissues working together Examples: Stomach, liver, heart, skin, etc. Stomach is made of muscle tissue, nerve tissue, & blood tissue

Stomach + mouth + intestines + liver = digestive system ORGAN SYSTEMS Group of organs working together to do a certain job Examples: respiratory, circulatory, digestive, reproductive, nervous Systems ARE DEPENDENT on other systems in your body Stomach + mouth + intestines + liver = digestive system

Digestive system
