What’s going on here? What can you see in this photo?/What is happening in this photo? Families in Dhaka, Bangladesh catch a ride in a boat to get around the floodwaters of the city. Is the boat on a river? No, it’s on flooded street. Severe floods occurred in Bangladesh in 1974, 1988, 1998, 2004 and 2007. Such floods are now happening more frequently. What are the people doing? They are going to collect clean water (see water jugs). Christian Aid works through a partner organisations to respond to disasters in Bangladesh, particularly flooding and cyclones, providing people with emergency supplies including clean water, clothes and food.
