Acute estramustine-induced hypocalcemia unmasking severe vitamin D deficiency  Dana L. Madison, MD, PhD, Tomasz M. Beer, MD, Michael M. Bliziotes, MD  The American Journal of Medicine  Volume 112, Issue 8, Pages 680-681 (June 2002) DOI: 10.1016/S0002-9343(02)01101-4

Figure Serum calcium, 25-hydroxyvitamin D, and parathyroid hormone levels during treatment with estramustine. The asterisk (*) indicates beginning of treatment. Calcium supplementation alone begun on July 17 did not significantly change the serum calcium level. Vitamin D supplementation begun on August 7 increased calcium to a near-normal level. An increase in parathyroid hormone level is seen despite a therapeutic increase in 25-hydroxyvitamin D. The American Journal of Medicine 2002 112, 680-681DOI: (10.1016/S0002-9343(02)01101-4)
