Considerations that guide drafting … There is a wealth of material - avoiding overlap and repetition of already existing material Who is the target group for the report? Balancing theory and principles with practical guidance Limited number of pages - an opportunity to keep things simple and seek to inspire and gently guide readers to start to think about what works best for them rather than being too descriptive Numerous positive parenting programmes – which ones really represent the best example? From a children’s right perspective? From a child-centred perspective? In terms of generating not only change in behaviour but a change in culture? Evidence and evaluations – key issue here is to address lack of child-centred evaluations, lack of evaluations of programmes that take a children’s rights approach

Issues to consider Who is the target group for the report and what are their special needs in terms of guidance? Which criteria guide the selection of the most appropriate parenting programmes for a country or for a specific context? What is the role of evidence in this?  What guidance can we give to ensure that evidence based parenting programmes integrate a child perspective and a child rights perspective? What guidance can we give on the roll out of parenting programmes in terms of voluntary or mandatory? How does the roll out influence impact?    How do countries succeed to hard to reach groups in parenting programmes?
