Who am I?

Baggie Lab

Materials: Safety: Tie back long hair, & wear goggles - zip-lock baggie Tie back long hair, & wear goggles - ½ tsp. sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) - ½ tsp. calcium chloride (CaCl2) - 1 mL bromothymol blue - 3 mL distilled water

What to do 1. Collect your baggie 2. Make observations 3. Formulate 2 hypotheses with your group

Calcium chloride Sodium bicarbonate Bromothymol blue Reaction 1   Sodium bicarbonate Bromothymol blue Reaction 1 Reaction 2

What to do 4. Mix the ingredients together. a. Do not open the baggie! 5. What do you see?

What to do 6. Were either of your hypotheses correct? 7. How does this connect with biology? 8. Place the baggie (unopened) in the garbage.
