Who was in the Roman army? Only men could be in the Roman Army Every Roman soldier had to be at least 20 years old Most soldiers came from contries outside Italy Soldiers had to stay in the army for at least 25 years

What was a legion? There were about 30 legions in the Roman Army .Each legion 6,000 legionaries. Every legion was divided into groups of 100 men. The officer in charge of 100 men was called a centurion.

What armour and weapons did the Romans have? .A Roman soldier wore armour made from strips of iron and leather .A Roman soldier wore on his head a metal helmet .Every soldiers carried a rectangular shield, curved .The soldier’s main weapons were a short sword and a long spear called a javelin http://images.google.it/imgres?imgurl=http://www.gsr-roma.com)
