The Framework of the Study: Evaluation of the Laron Law The survey is conducted in the framework of an evaluation study on the impact of changes in disability benefits on integration into employment of people with disabilities. Resulting limitations: Focus on employment-related questions at the expense of other aspects of life. Focus on severely–moderately disabled, who would be potentially impacted by the Laron Law. 2

Study Population Residents of Israel age Only those with disability lasting over six months. Not including people in institutions or hospitalized over six months. 3

Stages of the Survey 1 Screening to identify people with disabilities. 2 Comprehensive interview of the people identified in stage 1. 4

Sampling Method The sample consists of two sub- samples: Singles and couples of whom at least one receives disability benefits. Sample of the other general population – singles and couples, excluding those of whom at least one receives disability benefits. 5

Sample Size 1,300 disability benefits recipients and 484 spouses. 9,500 singles or couples from the second sub-sample, that represent 13,219 people. 6

Screening Method Telephone interview of the sample. In case of couples, one was interviewed both about him/herself and about their spouse. Benefit recipients were also asked the screening questions in order to check the validity of the screening questionenaire. Screening in four languages: Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and Amharic. 7

Examination of Possible Bias among the "Not Found" Interviewers will be sent to the homes of the sub-sample of those "not found" by telephone, in order to see whether they are significantly different from the respondents. 9

Comprehensive Interview The comprehensive interview was done with the sub-sample of the people screened. An hour interview (in one of four language) with the person with disability. Interview by proxy (usually spouse) when the person with disability could not be interviewed due to mental retardation or severe illness. 10
