Law of Conservation of Matter or Law of Conservation of Mass Chapter 14 Sections 1 & 2

What Do You See? Look closely! What is its purpose? When the pans are both at the same height, what does that mean? Keep this in mind as we continue

The Law law of conservation of matter - matter (mass) can neither be created nor destroyed. It can, however, can be rearranged. the before and after must balance Why, you ask?...It’s the Law!!!! The Law of Conservation of Matter (Mass) Matter can neither be created, nor destroyed.

Demonstrating the Law chemical reaction – process in which one or more substances change to make one or more new substances

Thinking of the balance? everything (both sides) must be equal! when matter goes through a physical or chemical change, the amount (or mass) of the substances that you begin with must equal the amount (or mass) of the substances that you end with.

Chemical Formulas in a chemical reaction, the mass of the reactants must equal the mass of the products chemical formula – shorthand for using chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance used to show how many atoms of each kind are in a molecule reactants – starting materials in a chemical reaction (left side) products – substances formed by a chemical reaction (right side)
