Expectations of staff High Joy - It is a privilege to work serving God through the local church. We get paid to serve God. Many people would love that purpose and meaning in their life. High Calling & Responsibility – Working in ministry is a calling to represent God well. Not just a job, a calling! Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8) You represent Black Rock Church – even on social media High Stewardship – Our salaries are paid by people’s offerings to God. We commit to work at least as hard as our key lay leaders. Working in the church requires sacrifice on our part.

Staff categories and expectations Salaried Staff with Sunday and Evening Duties Other salaried staff with Monday – Friday schedule Hourly Staff – specific hours as scheduled Salaried Staff with Sunday and Evening Duties Working in Ministry requires a lot of hours including early mornings, nights, weekends, etc. We expect employees to work the hours needed to do their job with excellence that represents God and Black Rock well. The Volunteers at our church work full-time jobs and serve at church above and beyond their time they spend at the full-time jobs. At Black Rock we expect our staff to model serving God in the same life of serving God that we teach our congregation. Attendance at all-church functions such as Holy week, Christmas week, Missions Conference week and Annual Meeting is expected. Do not schedule vacations over these all-church events or weeks without being granted an exception. Other salaried staff with Monday – Friday schedule We expect employees to work the hours needed to do their job with excellence that represents God and Black Rock well. Working in ministry requires more than forty hours per week not counting Sunday worship and Community Group. We expect our employees to work as much as needed and discuss with their supervisor if they need more or less responsibility to complete their job effectively.
