Bodies of Water List the different bodies of water found in Wisconsin here:

Streams What type of habitat do we find in streams? Moving water, water source is a cold spring. Soft or hard water is determined by the location. Sand and gravel bottoms for spawning. Deep pools, logs and root gnarls for cover. What types of fish live in streams? Smallmouth bass, trout, northern pike, walleye

Rivers What type of habitat do we find in rivers? Moving water, water source is small streams or cold springs. Sand and gravel bottoms for spawning. Deep pools, logs and root gnarls for cover. What types of fish live in rivers? Salmon, trout, northern pike, walleye

Wetlands What type of water do we find in wetlands? Shallow fluctuating water level, overflow areas for streams and rivers, may be swamps, bogs or marshes. What types of fish live in wetlands? Northern pike

Ponds What type of habitat do we find in ponds? Littoral zone extends from shore to shore, no open water zone. What types of fish live in ponds? Most of the gamefish found in lakes can be found in ponds.

Lakes What type of habitat do we find in lakes? Wetland, open water, benthic or bottom and littoral (or shallow) zones. What types of fish live in lakes? Walleye, northern pike, carp, largemouth bass, catfish, bullheads.

Great Lakes What type of habitat do we find in the Great Lakes? Extreme water depths and cold temperatures, near shore rocky reefs, extensive open water zone. What types of fish live in the Great Lakes? Lake and brook trout, chubs, northern pike, walleye, whitefish, bass, perch Non-native species: chinook salmon, coho salmon, brown trout, and rainbow trout
