DNA Deoxyribonucleic Acid

What is DNA All living things are made of proteins (skin, muscles, bones, etc.) DNA is the instructions to build proteins. DNA is found in all living organisms. In multicellular organisms DNA is located in the nucleus of each cell.

DNA is made of nucleotides. Nucleotides are subunits of nucleic acid made of a simple sugar, phosphate, and nitrogen base. The simple sugar is called deoxyribose.

DNA

Adenine A Thymine T Guanine G Cytosine C Base pairs There are four base pairs that made up ALL DNA in ALL LIVING THINGS! Adenine A Thymine T Guanine G Cytosine C

A goes with T G goes with C The base pair basics A goes with T G goes with C

A twisted place The DNA stands come together and because of the various chemical it twists. We call this twist, a double helix.

DNA has to replicate DNA is copied during Interphase prior to cell division. The new copy is exactly like the old molecules. Separation of strands Base pairing Bonding of bases Two stands of DNA
