Innovate. Improve. Grow. WEAVER: HEXAPOD ROBOT WITH 5DOF LIMBS FOR NAVIGATING ON UNSTRUCTURED TERRAIN.

CSIRO Futures Unlocking business' future growth opportunities CSIRO works with businesses and government at all stages along the innovation lifecycle, to achieve a sustained competitive edge and continued growth. CSIRO’s range of customisable services include scenario planning, technology deep-dives, ideation workshops and strategic analysis reports. Innovate. Improve. Grow.

CSIRO Futures: the strategic advisory arm of CSIRO The team works with senior decision makers in Australia's largest companies and government, and global partners to help answer key strategic questions such as: What emerging trends and technologies will re-shape my sector in the coming decades? What opportunities and risks will emerge from these rapidly changing landscapes? What science and technologies do I need to invest in to maintain or create a competitive advantage? https://www.csiro.au/en/Do-business/Futures Innovate. Improve. Grow.

CASE STUDY Understanding the opportunities and challenges of future operating environments In partnership with CSIRO Futures, CSIRO Chile developed this report about the role that innovation in the mining sector could play in Chile’s economic growth, human capital development, and solving Chile’s major technical challenges in energy and water. The report highlights five scenarios for the future of the Chilean mining industry. The project involved engagement with a wide range of senior stakeholders in Chilean industry and government. Mining has given a lot to Chile. A shared vision, an appetite for innovation and strong leadership will ensure that mining continues to drive economic growth for the country well into the future. Innovate. Improve. Grow.

CASE STUDY Mapping Australia’s future to 2050 and beyond The Australian National Outlook brings together CSIRO’s integrated modelling capability to explore long term opportunities and challenges facing Australia. This capability was deployed in 2015 to explore the ‘energy- water-food nexus’ and the prospects for Australia’s materials- and energy-intensive industries in 2050. Building on the world leading scientific achievement of the Outlook (2015), the second Australian National Outlook (2018) explores Australia in 2060 focusing on three major themes of Natural Resources and Energy, Productivity and Services, and Cities and Infrastructure. Managed by CSIRO Futures, the second National Outlook combines CSIRO’s integrated modelling capability with input from over 50 business, non-government and academic leaders. The National Outlook helps discover what Australia’s future could look like and the actions we require to shape a strong and prosperous future for all Australians. Innovate. Improve. Grow.

CASE STUDY Identifying technology investments for competitive advantage CSIRO Futures was engaged by the Australian Department of Environment & Energy to develop a comprehensive analysis of the technology options available to help Australia meet its emissions abatement targets and create new opportunities for Australian industry. The Futures team worked with CSIRO’s energy, manufacturing and economic modelling research groups to develop a technology investment strategy that prioritised the key technologies available to reduce emissions and build on Australia’s comparative advantage. The Low Emissions Technology Roadmap was prepared for the Australian Department of the Environment and Energy to provide input to the Government’s 2017 Climate Policy Review. Innovate. Improve. Grow.
