Born in 1343 in London English author, poet, philosopher, bureaucrat, courtier and diplomat. Took part in the Hundred Years War One of the first authors to write in English Was married to Philippa de Roet

Did most of his writing between 1369 and 1393 Comptroller of the Customs for the Port of London Died at St.Mary's Chapel at Westminster on October 25, 1400 Buried in Westminster Abbey

The Canterbury Tales One of the first books ever to be written in English About the journey of pilgrims Chaucer planned to write 120 tales, but managed to complete only 24

Chaucer began to write the stories in the 1380s Two of the stories are written in prose and the others in verse Characters from different classes: a knight, a cook, a sailor, a farmer etc.
