Maymester 2009 Study Abroad Course Marine Biology in Belize This is a hands-on field course taught within various tropical ecosystems on the coast of Belize. The course will focus on the ecology of these systems as well as examining environmental impacts and conservation efforts as they relate to the cultures and politics of Belizean society. Housing is simple at the Wee Wee Caye Marine Lab located on an offshore mangrove island along the Western Hemisphere’s longest barrier reef. Students considering this course must be competent swimmers. The course will involve extensive snorkeling. THE COST: $ $221225 includes airfare to Belize, travel within Belize, meals, and lodging for 8 days in Belize. KSU tuition for 4 credit hours is required, and is not included in this cost.
