High Cube Freight Car with Plug Doors Latching mechanism in place

Handles are secured with a this latch. Employees must take care because spring tension could be on the handle. When the latch is released (knocked off) the handle spins suddenly, hitting the employees hand. When manually closing if the door the handle builds tension and will spring back hitting employees. LATCH for HANDLE

Our quick fix to insure the doors latching mechanism does not build spring tension is to inspect and lubricate the door mechanism. These rail car doors have been inspected and lubricated by the rail car mechanical crew. They Were spotted and loaded.

This is the mechanism we are trialing in order to safely Close these doors. It is used in conjunction with A fork truck. Rolls the handle Around until closed Or open. forks
