What is the space race? A race between countries to get to the moon NASA CIA The space race was a part of history to see which country would be the first to put a man on the moon. The reason why it was occuring was because man wanted to increase there space programs like NASA to expand space exploration Another reason why was to help the CIA gather intellegence on Russia and there allies. The 3rd major reason was to increase military power in the airforce Military power

When did this race happen? It happened between the years of 1959 to 1969.

Who participated? The United States of America Russia

In the end, what happened? USA wins the space race Famous quote “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The US won the space race, on july, 16 1969 the launch of apollo 8 took off and landed on the moon 4 days later. neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

How have we benefitted by this race? NASA gets bigger 34,000 contractors and employees took place in the “space race” Many satellites 1. NASA obtained about 5 times as much funding after achieving this feat. 3. If It weren't for all the satellites put into space, we wouldn’t be able to make nationwide calls.
