*CALL TO WORSHIP AND INVOCATION L: Come away, disciples of Christ, and rest. P: We love to do God’s work, yet we are weary from our work and our responsibilities.
L: Come away, disciples of Christ, and leave the demands of the world L: Come away, disciples of Christ, and leave the demands of the world. P: But there are always more who need our help.
L: That is true, disciples of Christ, yet even he drew away to be renewed. P: We, too, love the sheep, but need our own renewal. We, too, need to be with Jesus, to find strength for the journey.
L: Come away, disciples of Christ, and draw strength and rest from the One who gives us peace and respite. P: Let us go, and there be renewed by the One who loves us.

PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING Exodus 20:8-11
Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your wok. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work – you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns.
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it.
SCRIPTURE READING Mark 6:30-34, 53-56
The apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, ‘Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest for awhile.’ For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure to even eat.
And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves. Now many saw them going and recognized them, and they hurried there on foot from all the towns and arrived ahead of them. As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them,
because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored the boat. When they got out of the boat, people at once recognized him,
and rushed about that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever the heard he was. And wherever he went, into villages or cities or farms, they laid the sick in the market-places, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak;
and all who touched it were healed. L: This is the Word of the Lord and all who touched it were healed. L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!
