Fighting Begins

War in Europe By 1941, Germany had controlled most of Europe.

North Africa 1942- Allies fought in North Africa Axis troops surrendered in May 1943

Northern France This is known as D-Day Invasion of Normandy. Largest water to land invasion. General Dwight D. Eisenhower led invasion. This is known as D-Day

Soviet Union Germany invaded Soviet Union, heading towards Moscow Allies move into Germany Stalingrad- turning point for Soviets, starting pushing Germans back. Soviet Union moves into Germany Soviets were advancing on Germany from East. Troops entered Germany from East and West.
