Lived most of his life in California Married five times (to five different women) Writing frequently contains elements of paranoia, psychosis, schizophrenia, and hallucination Also focuses on authoritarian governments, overly powerful corporations, and alternate universes.

Philip k. dick Wrote The Man in the High Castle (now an Amazon original series). Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (basis for the movie Blade Runner) A Scanner Darkly (dedicated to many of his friends who died or suffered damage from drug abuse, including himself) was turned into a 2006 movie starring Keanu Reeves, Woody Harrelson, Robert Downey Jr, and Winona Ryder. The film(s) Total Recall is loosely based on his short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.” Minority Report is based on a PKD short story of the same name.

“Beyond Lies the Wub” “Roog” was the first story Philip K. Dick sold, but “Beyond Lies the Wub” was the first to actually be printed. It was published in the summer of 1952 in Planet Stories.
