Inner City Challenges Increasing Traffic Congestion Competition from Out of Town Retailing Difficulty getting Goods into City Centre locations Lack of Parking Lack of Space for Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Introduction of Clean Air Zones – Large Diesel powered vehicles don’t fit well with this concept How can city centres be revitalised with all of these challenges

A Solution DASH - Delivery As a Service for Highstreets Combines multiple technology & transport partners to create a collaborative, emissions-reducing delivery proposition involving crowd-sourced deliveries & revitalisation of inner-city high-streets via an ‘easy-entry’ B2B & B2C mobile software platform Utilisation of low occupancy local authority car parks as delivery hubs (X–Doc) for courier operators (parcelcos), with adjacent Electric Vehicle (EV) rapid charging infrastructure, operators to reduce inner city courier fleets & replace with multiple crowd sourced onward delivery options customers to have variable delivery options (B2B & B2C) option for taxi drivers to multi-purpose vehicles a platform for local independent high-street traders to offer goods for delivery, click & collect & drop-off points integrated pricing, payment, routing, scheduling & customer parcel tracking options.

DASH Sunderland Launched in Sunderland but designed to be Interoperable and scalable platform technology Expandable to target multiple freight operators & retailers £450,000 of funding obtained Project commenced January 2017 Due for completion in May 2018 Designed to be Interoperable and scalable platform technology Expandable to target multiple freight operators & retailers to maximise socio-economic & environmental impact More charging infrastructure now being planned at the car parks
