Brevard County Licensing Regulation & Enforcement

Brevard County Licensing Regulation & Enforcement is the agency responsible for licensing and regulating construction businesses and professionals in Brevard County, Florida.  Our goal is to ensure the contractors performing construction activities are properly licensed and insured for consumer protection and contractor compliance.

County and State Laws Pursuant to Brevard County Code of Ordinance Chapter 22, Article VI and Florida State Statute 489 Part 1 and 2, contractors must hold a Certificate of Competency License (Certified License) and proper insurance in order to conduct business as a contractor.

HIRE LICENSED CONTRACTORS HIRE THE PROFESSIONAL HIRE LICENSED CONTRACTORS

Consumer Beware! Avoid Potential Pitfalls Unlicensed contractors are uninsured and incompetent Homeowner’s insurance will not pay for damage or poor workmanship caused by an unlicensed contractor BEWARE of the so called “Handyman” A Business Tax Receipt (formerly known as an Occupational License) issued by the County is NOT a Contractor License! Don’t be victimized by someone making door to door solicitation Don’t pay cash, don’t let payments get ahead of the work completed, don’t pay the full cost of the job up front Get at least 3 bids Avoid owner/builder permits, keep the responsibility where it belongs, with the contractor
