Southern democrats the dominated Georgia's politics in the late 1800s

Bourbon Triumvirate

One of the three political leader who dominated Georgia after reconstruction

Joseph E. Brown

The second leader who member of the triumvirate and a political leader who dominated Georgia after reconstruction. He also became a leader of the KKK.

John B. Gordon

He was a man who owned slaves before the south lost the war and served in the confederate army. He was a member of the Georgia Bourbon Triumvirate.

Alfred H. Colquitt

Editor of the Atlanta Constitution Editor of the Atlanta Constitution. He believed that the south needed to be more like the north economically.

Henry W. Grady

Was a vision that the south should be more industrialized Was a vision that the south should be more industrialized. More like the north.

New South

This was an exposition that attracted more than 200,000 paid visitors during its 2 and a half month run. It showed how Georgia was ready for more industry.

International Cotton Exposition

Became the transportation hub of the south and its new industry center as well. It also became a state capital in 1868.

He was the most influential populist leader in Georgia and one of the most in the nation.

This was a political movement that fought to help farmers.

Populist Movement

This kept the power in the hands in the less populated rural countries rather than the heavily populated countries.

County Unit System

She was the wife of a progressive congressman and an activist who challenged the Bourbon Triumvirate. She helped end the convict lease system and she fought for woman suffrage.

They provided leadership and social activism in Atlanta African American community.

John and Lugenia Burns Hope

He was the most influential African American He was the most influential African American. Born a slave, he grew up to become a barber. He was the largest black donor to the Atlanta University.

Alonzo Herndon
