Helmets Helmet were used to protect the head during battle. They were made out of steel and brass. Earlier helmets had cheek flaps to protect the side of the face and head.

Shields Shields were made out of iron They also had a conical-shaped piece in the center called an umbo, or shield bosses Umbos were usually made from thick metal or wood A male warrior would usually have handled these shields with a metal handle

Body Armor The main type of body armor during Anglo-Saxon times was the mail Made out of cutting thin strips of iron, the armor protected from the top of the head to below the knees. Oil-tempered made it more resistance to rust and made it stronger Had holes punched in it for breathing

Weapons Main weapons during this time was the spear Not only for peasant use but also professional use Also there was the single-edge knife known as the scramseax, small hand axes for combat, and swords The uncommon weapon was the bow and arrow because it was mostly used for hunting and Viking use
