CSNS and J-PARC Schematic layout of CSNS facilities

1, CSNS Delegates to J-PARC Wei Jie, Wang Fangwei, Tao Juzou visited KEK for 5 days June 2008. They discussed the future collaboration on CSNS neutron instruments with Ikeda-san of IMSS. Prof. Xi Jiwei, Associate Director of IHEP, Prof. Ma Li, deputy manager of CSNS project led a delegate of 16 persons from IHEP and other 7 persons from CSNS vendors visited J-PARC March 2009 for one week. 13 IHEP staff were supported by JSPS. Profs. Kobayashi, Yoshioka, Ms. Hayashi and many others arranged a very detailed visiting agenda for their visit and a very comfortable hotel.

1, CSNS Delegates to J-PARC

1, CSNS Delegates to J-PARC During their one week visit, they toured the facility and then were subdivided into 10 subgroups for a very wide-range exchange with J-PARC collaborators on accelerator design and operation, target, control, conventional utility, infrastructure, radioprotection,…

1, CSNS Delegates to J-PARC Drs. Wang Shen, Zhang Jing, Dong Haiyi visited J-PARC Feb. 2008. They toured the facility and discussed with Profs. Kobayashi ,Yoshioka,Ando and many others for the issues on the beam dynamics, beam tuning, timing, magnet, power supply and vacuum. Then they attended the ATAC meeting.

1, CSNS Delegates to J-PARC Drs. Xu Taoguang and Sun Zhiri visited J-PARC for 10 days in Match 2008. They toured the facility of the linac and beam instruments. Prof.Kobayashi and Hayashi and Naito and many others discussed on beam diagnostics design and DTL manufacture technology.

1, CSNS Delegates to J-PARC Dr. Li Gang and Lei Ge visited J-PARC for two weeks in Feb. 2009. They discussed control system with Prof. Yamamoto and others. Dr. Zhu Tao, He Lunhua from IPHY and Dr. Sun Zhijia from IHEP visited KEK and J-PARC for one month from Feb. to Match 2009 for study on the neutron instruments design. Dr. Tao Juzhou, IHEP visited KEK and J-PARC for three weeks for the neutron instrument research in Dec. 2008.

2, Student Training A Ph.D. student Wang Wei of IHEP visited KEK from Oct. to Dec. 2007 for his study on kicker magnet and power supply for CSNS. A post doctor Zhang Jurong from IPHY has been studying neutron spectrometer at KEK for one year since June 2008.

3, Japanese Visitors Drs. Furukawa and Kikutani visited IHEP for one week in Dec. 2008 for the discussion with Prof. Zhou Jijiu and others in the Control Group for the design of CSNS control system.

4, Seminar JSPS, Tohoku Univ. and IHEP, CIAE jointly organized the second Asia Science Seminar-Frontier Science at High-Intensity Proton Accelerators in Beijing Oct. 2008.T.D.Lee, A, Suzuki, H.S.Chen,S. Nagamiya, H. Fukunishi and many famous Asian scientists presented on this seminar. More than two hundred participants including 46 Japanese scientists and students attended this meeting.

Conclusions CSNS collaboration relationship with KEK, JAEA and J-PARC in the framework of JSPS started in 2007. Since then, personnel and information exchange grows quickly with a fruitful result. 27 staff and 2 students from IHEP and IPHY visited Japan, 2 staff of KEK visited IHEP, and 46 scientists and students from Japan attended the seminar in Beijing. Continuously develop the relationship is expected in CSNS side.
