Plastic Water Bottles BY: JADE FISHER

Creation First, the oil is extracted from the earth Then the oil is cleaned at the refinery

Process Then the oil is cleaned at the refinery At a plastics factory the oil is transformed into plastic pellets then bottle pre-forms.

Manufacturing The pre-forms are heated and shaped into bottles. The bottles are brought to the bottling plant where they are filled with water.

Consumer The bottles are ready for you so they are transported to the store. You purchase the bottle of water and bring it to your house.

Use People Drink the water from the bottle Sometimes the bottles are reused but usually they are not.

Recycle Putting the water bottles in the recycling Local trucks pick up the recycling and bring it to a plant Here it is separated and pulverized into smaller plastic pieces Then they are cleaned and melted down, then they can be shaped into other products such as carpets

Garbage (Wasted) If the bottles are thrown into a garbage can they will be picked up by the local garbage disposal company Then they are brought to a dump (landfill) It takes about 1000 years for a water bottle to decompose These landfills are sometimes turned into ski hills but usually they are just left there doing nothing
