Fix Your Focus

1. His Passion Me Vs Them

Matt 14:13 “As soon as Jesus heard the news, he left in a boat to a remote area to be alone. But the crowds heard where he was headed and followed on foot from many towns. Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick”

Compassion in Greek “splagchnizomai” To be moved in the bowel

“…At the sight of them, his heart broke…(The Msg) Mk 6:34 “…he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd.” (NLT) “…At the sight of them, his heart broke…(The Msg)

Lk 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost”.

“…As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Jn 20:21

II. His Power Problem vs Potential

Matt 14:15-17 That evening the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.” But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.”  “But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!” they answered.

Application Give what you have Give thanks Matt 14:19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.

III. His Presence & His Promises Fear vs Faith

Matt 14:22 “…immediately after this, Jesus insisted that the disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake. But Jesus himself went up into the hills by himself to pray.”

Matt 14:24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen and they were fighting heavy waves.

Take courage, It is I (NIV) Take courage, I am here (NLT) Matt 14:27 Take courage, It is I (NIV) Take courage, I am here (NLT) Literal translation of the Greek word, Courage, I AM!

Matt 14:28-29 28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” 29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.

Doubt—“distazo” in Greek is to waver in opinion, to hesitate, to be uncertain Figurative word that conveys a person standing at the fork in a road, uncertain as which direction to choose It also captures the idea of the a scale teetering back and forth repeated because the items on both sides are of almost the same weight.
