General Information The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devils Triangle, is a region in the North Atlantic Ocean where numerous airplanes and ships have disappeared mysteriously. According to the US Navy, the Bermuda Triangle does not actually exist. Also, the World Wide Fund for Nature did not list the Bermuda Triangle as one of the Top 10 dangerous waters for shipping. The vertices, or where the points are in the triangle, are located in Miami, the Florida Peninsula; San Juan and the Island of Bermuda. The Bermuda Triangle started by Fate Magazine, the article named “Sea Mystery at our back Door”. It summarizes that several planes and ships had sand on board, one of these being Flight 19.

Scientists are arguing that most mysteries can be solved by looking at the environment. Most tropical storms pass through the Bermuda Triangle, a reason why some ships have been destroyed killing all people on board. The Gulf Stream, a powerful underwater river, runs through the “Devil’s Triangle”. The Gulf Stream causes abrupt weather changes in a short amount of time, it can cause currents making the ship move off course. Another idea is that sometimes the compasses change from the “true” north, as opposed to the “magnetic” north. This would cause ships to get of course and crash into nearby islands, rocks or get into the unwanted Gulf Stream. Again, all of these weather phenomena can occur anywhere at anytime in the ocean, but most incidents happen in the Bermuda Triangle.

The mission is a routine patrol from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. All five pilots are highly experienced aviators and all of the aircraft have been carefully checked prior to takeoff. The weather over the route is reported to be excellent, a typical sunny day. At 1545 Fort Lauderdale tower receives a call from the flight but, instead of requesting landing instructions, the flight leader sounds confused and worried. "Cannot see land," he blurts. "We seem to be off course." "What is your position?" the tower asks. There are a few moments of silence. The tower personnel squint into the sunlight of the clear Florida afternoon. No sign of the flight."We cannot be sure where we are," the flight leader announces. "Repeat: Cannot see land." Contact is lost with the flight for about 10 minutes and then it is resumed. But it is not the voice of the flight leader. Instead, voices of the crews are heard, sounding confused and disoriented, "We can't find west. Everything is wrong. We can't be sure of any direction. Everything looks strange, even the ocean." Another delay and then the tower operator learns to his surprise that the leader has handed over his command to another pilot for no apparent reason.

Methane, an acid that is found at the bottom of the ocean, rises as a bubble up to the oceans surface expanding size. As the methane bubble rises all the ships would lose buoyancy because of the methane changing the waters density and sink without a warning. The reason airplanes fall out of the sky as well is because the methane bubbles continue rising, if the methane collides with the airplane it causes the engine to falter and crash down into the ocean in a matter of seconds.

Intense fires burning, from waves steady churning, the mighty Caribbean seas. Unexplainable readings, and heavenly beings, the waters can be so misleading. Search vessels scoured, the islands and inlets, but still nothing turned up in sight. The triangles of Bermuda, broke bow and stern alike, yet no one can explain what happened, that warm foggy night.

Source 6 It's been suggested that from time to time a rift in space-time opens up in the Bermuda Triangle, and that planes and ships that are unlucky enough to be traveling the area at this time are lost in it. Our Interpretation After analyzing several sources, we have come to the conclusion that the Bermuda Triangle mystery deaths and disappearances have been caused by risen methane gas. Methane gas can take out a ship’s buoyancy and an aircraft's engine and electronics(Source 3). The rising of methane gas has been one of the most proven theories of why all the planes and ships have not been found in the area.
