The Goal of Growth - Maturity James 1:1-12

The Goal of Growth - Maturity The background of the book. The author – James. The audience – Jewish Christians. The setting – the Dispersion.

The Goal of Growth - Maturity A new perspective on trials. Trials are actually a good thing. Trials make enduring faith. Enduring faith brings maturity.

The Goal of Growth - Maturity A new perspective on wisdom. Wisdom comes from God, not grades. Wisdom comes from faith, not facts. Wisdom comes from spiritual maturity.

The Goal of Growth - Maturity A new perspective on finances. Being poor is actually a blessing. Being rich is actually a trial. God rewards the mature believer.

What does that mean to me? I need to memorize James 1:12

What does that mean to me? I need a new perspective. My trials are a good thing – be excited for the opportunity for growth. Spiritual maturity comes as an enduring response to trials, not from time.

What does that mean to me? I need a new perspective. I need to seek God for wisdom, not more education. Wisdom comes from exercising faith, not “facts.” My wisdom will grow as I mature spiritually.

What does that mean to me? I need a new perspective. God is my provider. I must trust God more than my wealth. God rewards mature believers, not immature believers.
