PARTNERS MMC meeting PEPFAR/SOUTH AFRICA Vision Objectives Coordination

USG MMC Vision Align with SAG at all levels Align with PEPFAR priorities and policies Achieve population level impact with measured reduction of HIV Achieve 80% coverage of MMC

Goal The overall goal of the PEPFAR support for Medical Male Circumcision in South Africa is to contribute to the SAG objective of reducing new HIV infections by 50% among men and their partners.

Objectives Support scale up of safe Medical Male Circumcision service delivery in select provinces with high volume sites in areas of high population density Contribute to the promotion of safe MMC with clear accurate information about the service and its partial protection and in the context of a comprehensive HIV prevention effort Provide Technical assistance and support to SAG at National, Provincial and District levels to attain scale and coverage of MMC to meet national targets. Reinforce promotion use of and access to male sexual and reproductive health services as a part of comprehensive HIV prevention.

Strategy Geographically and epidemiologically focused Focus USG MMC efforts primarily in three provinces: KZN, GP, MP Focus on rapid scale up of a limited number of high volume sites that can achieve a population level impact in a given area Phased roll-out of mmc (programmatic and funding) Use resources effectively & efficiently TA to SAG to scale up MMC in other provinces

Fundamental Principles Support the SAG efforts to the scale-up MMC and for neonatal as appropriate Assure a comprehensive prevention approach Efficient use of resources Scale-up of male circumcision services should not jeopardize access/quality of other health services Assure standardized level of care through ongoing quality assurance monitoring

Coordination Coordinated PEPFAR planning and funding of partners USG (interagency) –monthly mmc team meetings and on-going discussions with AMs Monthly/quarterly update calls with all USG MC partners and Agency MC point persons Communication – all mmc related communication please cc usg mc poc
