It’s been a week. Can you remember what irony is?

Let’s play, SATIRICAL OR NOT!? You will break up into groups to play a quick game. Your group will be given a large piece of blue paper with a line down the middle. One side labeled “SATIRE” one labeled “NOT” , you will then be given a stack of pictures, place the picture in the correct category. Then, call me over and I will check your work. First group done with both packets WINS!

Writing About Satire: 1.What true statement(s) about society is the author making? 2. What part(s) of this truth is being ridiculed? 3. Why should this truth be ridiculed? 4. What societal change does the author desire? (This is the author’s purpose)

General Questions: 1. Write out any quotes that stand out or are significant. 2. What makes these statements stand out? 3.Write out any quotes which use a literary device to emphasize the author’s purpose. 4.How does the device used emphasize the author’s purpose?
