About the tribe of Hawazin Hawazin was a tribe of Taif Taif was a city 50 miles south of Makkah Thaqeef was a clan of the tribe of Hawazin The people of Hawazin were a very strong group of idol worshippers

Reason for the Battle of Hunayn Events before the Battle of Hunayn: When Hawazin heard of the liberation of Makkah by the Muslims they became very worried They feared the Prophet would come to their land for revenge of the time they had chased him out They also wanted to help the Quraish against the Prophet as they had a strong relationship with them They therefore gathered a huge army to attack the Muslims

The Events of the Battle of Hunayn Hawazin’s war plan Muslims caught by surprise Early defeat for the Muslims The Muslim Army Regains Control A surprise Reunion (Shaymaa’ Bint Al-Harith) The siege of At-Taif

How The Hawazin Embraced Islam The Prophet prayed for their guidance The Prophet met with the leader of Hawazin – Malik Ibn Awf – who upon meeting the Prophet embraced Islam Most of the tribe followed their leader and became Muslims, except the clan of Thaqeef.

Taif Becomes A Muslim City Malik Ibn Awf and other leaders of the tribe of Hawazin worked hard to convince the people of Thaqeef to accept Islam. At first they laid down some ridiculous conditions but the Prophet refused to accept these conditions, but soon Islam entered their hearts and they became complete Muslims. Almost a year later the whole of Taif had accepted Islam.

LESSONS LEARNT Islam teaches us to consult those with knowledge before taking important decisions and to accept sincere advice. Consulting Allah before taking any step is most important. (Du’aa Al-Istikharah) Never become proud and/or overconfident of your ability/power/intelligence. Always trust in Allah and have full faith in Him because He is the bestower of victory/success. Always be courageous in the face of hardships. Avoid becoming a coward or a quitter even in difficult times.

AHADEETH MENTIONED IN THIS CHAPTER

The Seven Great Destructive Sins Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Avoid the seven great destructive sins.” "O Allah's Apostle! What are they?” The companions enquired. He said, “To join others in worship along with Allah, to practice magic, to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause, (according to Islamic law), to eat up Riba (usury), to eat up an orphan's wealth, to give one’s back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting, and to accuse, chaste women, who never even think of anything touching chastity and are good believers.” [Agreed upon]

Every Newborn Is Born With True Faith Abu Hurayrah narrated that Prophet Muhammad said: “Every newborn is born with true faith in his/her heart, then his/her parents teach him/her to become a Jew or a Christian or a Pagan.

Manners That Lead to Destruction & Those That Save a Person Abdullah Ibn Omar (RadiAllahu ‘Anhu) narrated that Rasoolullah said: “ Three manners lead to destruction – acting upon greed, following desires, and becoming proud of one’s self. And three manners lead to safety – fearing Allah in private and public, moderate spending when poor or rich, and acting justly while in anger or happiness.”
