ADDACTION FAMILY OFFER

Our Aim Our aim is to break the inter-generational cycle of substance misuse and the transfer of associated problems.

WE AIM TO WORK WITH THE FAMILY To improve family relations/dynamics To assess the impact of parental substance misuse on the needs of their children/young people To help substance misusing parents to recognise the impact of their behaviour on the lives of their children and wider families and improve their parenting skills; Provide children and young people The tools to safely express their thoughts and feelings about their circumstances : capturing the voice of the child . Support the development self-esteem of children/ young people and to help them realise their full potential; To operate within the Liverpool Early Help and Assessment Framework. to contribute to the nine key indicators identified in the integrated Early Help strategy

Specific Outcomes: Reduction / abstinence of parental substance use ; Increased parental awareness of impact of risks to family members Reduction in harmful behaviour within the family Increased housing and economic stability; Increased health and wellbeing within the family; Engagement in meaningful occupation / training Education Increased social competence Increase in healthy development Better parenting skills; Better family functioning; Integration of the Addaction Families Worker and other professionals.

Interventions we use One-to-one and family support; Group work; Talk Therapy – techniques including motivational interviewing, brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behaviour Approaches Signposting/Advocacy; Home visits , work within the community setting Community reintegration support ,confidence building self esteem groups Referral in to other treatment services;

ADDACTION IN EARLY HELP – REFERRAL CRITERIA Current misuse of drugs and/or alcohol within the household User is an adult within the household where a child under 18 resides User is a young person under 18 – Young Addaction There is an open EHAT single agency support or social care involvement There is potential for drug/alcohol misuse to impact the well being of any children
