What is plagiarism?

What is plagiarism? According to the MLA Handbook, plagiarism is “using another person’s ideas, information or expressions without acknowledging that person’s work” (66).

Types of plagiarism You directly quoted, changed around only a few words and phrases, or changed the order of the original’s sentences. You copied text and pasted it into your paper without quotation marks and without citing the source. You presented facts or paraphrased someone’s wording without acknowledgement (including using someone else´s examples) You bought or otherwise acquired a research paper and handed in part or all of it as your own.
