Investigation vs. Model In the world of science, investigations are much preferred over a model. Judges like them better, too! An investigation involves a step-by-step procedure that begins with a purpose, and a hypothesis. In other words, it’s an experiment. If you decide to make a model, it must be very developed and an explanation must be given of exactly what you are trying to demonstrate with the model.
