Biology at Advanced Laser Light Sources What do we mean by Advanced Laser Light Sources ? And what is addressed in terms of biology ?

European Cluster of Advanced Laser Light Sources

European Cluster of Advanced Laser Light Sources EUCALL is a network between large-scale user facilities for: free-electron laser (FEL) radiation synchrotron radiation (SR) optical laser radiation Under EUCALL, they work together on: common technologies and research opportunities tools to sustain this interaction in the future Facts and figures: 7M€ from Horizon 2020 for project period Oct 2015 - Oct 2018 11 partners from nine countries, two further clusters, two associate partners Before you start editing the slides of your talk change to the Master Slide view: Menu button “View” > Slide Master: Edit the following items: 1. EUCALL’s Strategic Goals and (some) activities Develop & implement cross-cutting services for XFEL, ESRF and ELI Optimize use of advanced laser light sources in Europe. Stimulate & support common long-term strategies & research policies Two relevant activities for this workshop: Exchange experience with existing scientific application and facility operation Develop vision for future & new scientific applications We chose ‘biology (or life sciences) applications’ since these are very important in terms of societal impact and there are in the focus of nearly all involved partner facilities

Biology applications and relevant techniques Goals of this Workshop Experience exchange between operators, scientific staff, users and industry of synchrotrons, free-electron lasers and optical laser facilities Biology applications and relevant techniques Foster understanding of what the synergies between the different sub-groups are, as well as how to identify and develop them and later to extend these synergies into other communities Invited presentations Poster session (42 posters) + dinner Visit to European XFEL Experimental Hall Before you start editing the slides of your talk change to the Master Slide view: Menu button “View” > Slide Master: Edit the following items: 1.
