WHY DO WE NEED FEET?? TO WALK TO RUN TO DANCE TO HOP TO PLAY TO EXPRESS EMOTIONS.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO TAKE CARE OF “OUR FEET”?

AND WHAT IF WE DON’T TAKE CARE OF FEET? 1.WE CAN HAVE LOSS OF SENSATIONS IN OUR FEET- “NEUROPATHY”. 2.WE CAN HAVE INFECTIONS, ABSCESSES ON THE FEET. 3. COULD BE EVENWORSE – GANGRENE OF THE FOOT.

THE DAMAGE WHICH CAN OCCUR TO OUR FEET BECAUSE OF UNCONTROLLED BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVEL FOR LONG TIME COULD BE-

AMPUTATION

YES!

HOW? BETTER GLYCAEMIC CONTROL.

DAILY FEET EXAMINATION.

SELF EXAMINATION PREFERABLY USING A HANDHELD MIRROR-TOP,BOTTOM AND IN BETWEEN TOES. OR ANY FAMILY MEMBER TO EXAMINE THE FEET DAILY.

WASH YOUR FEET DAILY.

CHECK TEMPERATURE OF WATER WITH HAND OR ELBOW BEFORE TAKING BATH.

KEEP THE SPACE IN BETWEEN THE TOES DRY. APPLY TALCUM POWDER.

TOE SPACERS

APPLY MOISTURISER AFTER BATH. OR

NO CORN CAPS, CORN PLASTER, FILERS.

NO ADHESIVE TAPES TO THE FEET.

NO BATHROOM SURGERIES.

WEAR PROTECTIVE FOOTWEAR WHILE SWIMMING.

DO NOT WALK BAREFOOT.

SOME SITUATIONS WHERE WE LOVE TO WALK BAREFOOT.

GOOD FOOTWEAR TOUGH OUTER SOLE LACES SOFT INSOLES

ALWAYS INSPECT SHOES BEFORE WEARING THEM. VELCROVES ARE BETTER OPTIONS

USE OF PROPER FITTING SHOES WITH SOCKS.

AS FAR AS POSSIBLE DO NOT WEAR SANDALS WITH THONGS AND HIGH HEELS.

DO NOT SIT CROSS -LEGGED FOR LONG TIME.

DO NOT SMOKE.

SEE YOUR DOCTOR REGULARLY AND BE SURE THAT “YOUR FEET” INCLUDING THE AREAS BETWEEN THE TOES ARE EXAMINED AT EACH VISIT.

WHEN YOUR FOOT IS SICK-

TAKE BED REST AND KEEP YOUR FOOT ELEVATED.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY-

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR AT ONCE.

LOVE YOUR FEET.

And when you get a choice to sit it out or dance- I hope you dance, I hope you dance.
