GCSE BUSINESS STUDIES UNIT 2.1 RECAP

Starter Create a Business Studies GCSE Folder in your own user area. Create a ‘Unit 1 sub-folder’ and place into this all work from last year. Create a sub-folder called ‘2.1 Intro’ Put all Business Studies work from this half-term into the 2.1 folder. Create a ‘2.2 Marketing’ sub- folder for next half-term Save all Business Studies work in the relevant folder in future.

Aims & Objectives We have completed Unit 2 Section 1. During this lesson: ALL students must complete and print-out any unfinished or not started classwork ALL students must complete any unfinished or not started homework MOST students will be complete revision activities during the lesson ALL students will complete revision task for homework.

Classwork /Homework list On the board will be a list of all work submitted and marked. If there is a gap by your name you need to complete and print –off the work. All worksheets / question sheets are at front of class. If you have submitted all work then you need to complete the revision tasks on the following slides.

Location Snowslopes plc has firmly established itself in the UK market, selling high quality ski and surf wear clothing and equipment. It has an objective of growth and is looking to do this through the best location. At a recent board meeting it discussed two options linked to this objective: Further expansion in the UK Expansion through overseas locations The discussion was quite animated, with good points being put forward for both arguments. However, a final decision was left to the next board meeting when all parties had been given enough time to look at the options in detail. Question Time What is meant by the term ‘best location’? (2 marks) Explain how location can affect how competitive a firm is (5 marks) Recommend to the board of Snowslopes plc whether or not they should expand further in the UK, or locate abroad, in order to meet their objective of growth.
