the Virtual Observatory CoRoT and the Virtual Observatory Enrique Solano Spanish Virtual Observatory Centro de Astrobiología (INTA-CSIC)

The CAB's involvement in CoRoT archives: A bit of history Responsible for the GAUDI system since 2001

http://sdc.cab.inta-csic.es/corotfa/ (since Feb 2009)

The CoRoT Public archive @ CAB: Some functionalities

The Virtual Observatory Goal: Effficient access and analysis of the information hosted in astronomical archives and services. Science Tools Stds

CoSADIE: The VO in Europe Goal: Design a sustainable version of the already successful European Virtual Observatory (Euro-VO). Work Packages: WP1 - Management WP2 - Increasing awareness and gathering requirements from the user and provider communities WP3 - Coordinating technical activities and defining the technical needs to maintain the VO framework WP4 - Outreach towards education and the general public interested in astronomy WP5 - Strategy, governace and financial sustainability of Euro-VO

How can VO be of help to CoRoT? Use case #1: Membership selection The precise mechanisms governing angular momentum evolution of PMS low-mass stars are still not well understood, On the other hand, the observed existence of slow rotators and of a wide dispersion in rotation rates of cluster stars on the zero-age main sequence (ZAMS), can be explained only with the presence of a competing mechanism of angular momentum loss (i.e. spin down of the star), different from star to star, during the pre-main sequence phase. It is generally believed that this mechanism can be explained by the magnetic interaction between stellar magnetospheres and circumstellar disks disks, in a scenario known as disk- locking, first

Use Case #1: Membership criteria SRa01

Summary esm@cab.inta-csic.es There are many fields in which VO can help to exploit CoRoT data BUT... There are still some caveats and your collaboration is essential (i.e., providing use cases covering news scenarios not yet contemplated) Interested? Want to know more? Please, contact me: esm@cab.inta-csic.es
