By: Zachary Olson and Gardner Thompson The Bow and Arrow By: Zachary Olson and Gardner Thompson

Beginnings of the Bow and Arrow The first generation of the bow and arrow was a piece of pliable wood with animal intestines used as the string.

Innovations to the Bow and Arrow The next generation of bows and arrow came when string was first used as the drawstring for the bow. After this, new composite bows were formed that were made of different materials and a curved shape were able to put more force behind the arrow then previous iterations. The early crossbow was the next stage in the innovation of the original bow and arrow. Since it could be fired by a trigger and it was mechanical it was slower but more powerful. Then came the compound bow. The compound bow is used in most archery competitions or recreational archery. The final step in the innovation of the bow and arrow is the modern crossbow. It has deadly precision and power.

Technology Transfer The bow and arrow was originally designed as a tool used for hunting but was also used in combat for a long time.

How Advertising has Affected The Sale of the Bow and Arrow Advertising has had no real effect on the sale of the bow and arrow. I haven’t even seen an advertisement for a bow and arrow, but they still sell them.

How Have Goals of Companies Affected Bow and Arrow Sales Goals of the companies that sell bows and arrows play a big factor in their sale. A lot of companies that make bows and arrows have a genuine interest in what they do and want the experience of shooting a bow and arrow to be better for everyone because they are passionate about it. People that want to shoot tend to like these companies more than money mongers.

How Has the Economy Affected Bow and Arrow Sales During the recession of 2006-2008 bow and arrow sales went down. There was not enough money in the economy to have good quality low-priced bows out there.

How have Fads Affected the Sale of the Bow and Arrow Bow and arrow sales went up after the release of the Hunger Games movie and after the premier of TV shows like Revolution.

How Have Social Factors Affected Bow and Arrow Sales Social factors have never really affected bow and arrow sales. If you live in an area where hunting is common then people might pressure you to get a bow and arrow and hunt with them.

The Next Step I believe that the next step in the evolution of the bow will be the Sonar Distance Assisted Aiming Bow, or SDAAB for short. It will calculate the distance between you and the target you are aiming at using the time it takes the sonar waves to go and come back. Then when you have applied the appropriate amount of force to the string it will beep.

How Environmental Concerns Will Affect the Next Step I do not believe there will be any new environmental concerns for the Next Step in the evolution of the bow and arrow. It is not raising any new concerns.

How Economic Concerns Will Affect the Next Step Sonar Technology can be quite expensive so the Next Step may only tailor towards the more wealthy buyers seeking the newest tech.

How Political Concerns Will Affect The Next Step Since it is not changing anything from the base design or purpose the same political concerns of hunting regulation and other sorts of rules for use will apply.
