Radical Equations A radical equation is when there is a variable under the radical. You must check your answers because there may be extraneous solutions (solutions that do not work in the original problem) You must state any extraneous solutions.
Ex 1 Isolate the radical; if there is more than one, isolate one at a time. Take the radical to the appropriate power. Solve for the variable. Check your solutions, then state the solution and any extraneous solutions.
