Applying for a Global Grant

Global Grant Long-term, larger projects: --Project size: US$30,000 to US$200,000 --Minimum RI Grant: US$15,000 Sustainable and measurable outcomes Partnership with club in another country No deadline….but, recommend within same fiscal year Alignment with areas of focus

Areas of Focus Humanitarian projects Vocational training teams Scholarships Speaking point: Each area of focus has specific goals that should be used to refine projects that are developed to meet real community needs.

Starting A Global Grant Where is your project? Overseas? In the US? Rotary Club partner Are they a club in good standing? Cooperating Technical Partner Cooperating Agency MOU Is it Sustainable?

Sustainability Visit the project site ahead of time Needs Assessment Meet with the host club Use local materials and equipment Provide education, training, community outreach Set specific, measurable outcomes Monitor results

Getting Your GG Proposal Approved: Review proposal informally with Grants Chair Develop your concept and budget Determine Primary, Secondary contacts Both Host and International E-Mail proposal electronically to Grants Chair Get District approval Fill out online Rotary Grants application

Typical Global Grant - Overseas International Lead Club Develops the project in coordination with the locals Selects a Cooperating Agency Writes the grant Creates a separate bank account Obtains US club, district contributions

Typical Global Grant - Overseas Host Club No minimum contribution Creates a project bank account Receives Global Grant funding Writes the checks to the project Provides local expertise Assists with monitoring, sustainability

International Funding Financial tips US Funding Create separate bank account Obtain checks as soon as you get commitment Get District support for matching funding Partner with other districts! International Funding Project budget is in host country dollars No minimum contribution Ask for a District contribution
