Consecutive Number Equations Lesson 7-2

Math Vocabulary consecutive: in order; one after the other

Finding Consecutive Integers The sum of three consecutive integers is 96. 1st integer = n 2nd integer = n + 1 3rd integer = n + 2 Equation: n + (n + 1) + (n + 2) = 96

Finding Consecutive Integers BUT… You MUST name the integers by plugging n back into each integer equation! 1st integer = n = 31 2nd integer = 31 + 1 = 32 3rd integer = 31 + 2 = 33

Finding Consecutive Integers Find four consecutive integers with a sum of 358. 1st integer = n 2nd integer = n + 1 3rd integer = n + 2 4th integer = n + 3 Equation: n + (n + 1) + (n + 2) + (n + 3) = 358

Finding Consecutive Integers Find two consecutive EVEN integers whose sum is 66. 1st integer = n 2nd integer = n + 2 Equation: n + (n + 2) = 66

Practice Write & solve an equation for… Two consecutive integers with a sum of 33 Four consecutive EVEN integers whose sum is -92
