TYPICAL INPUT DEVICES By Dajia Forbes 1c

KEYBOARD The most common input device is the keyboard. Keyboards play a pivotal role in the input of data into the computers.

MOUSE The movement of the mouse of the mouse over a flat surface is mirrored by a pointer on the monitor screen. Buttons on the mouse allow you to make selections

JOYSTICK A joystick is a pointing device which enables the user to control the movement of an object on the screen. It is used mainly for computer games

DIGITISING TABLET To digitise data means to convert it from an analogue from to a digital form. A digitising tablet is a board which can be detect the position of a pointing device.

GAMING PAD This gaming device enables a user to move an object on the screen by pressing or moving sticks. It is held with both hands.

GAMING WHEEL This device is a steering wheel which simulates driving by the turning of the wheel. Pedals are also used with this device.

LIGHT GUN This device uses a pointing device. This pointing device contains a sensor that detects a light emitted from the screen.

DANCE PADS This device also known as a dance mat or a dance platform. It contains a matrix of square panel sensors.

LIGHT PEN This is shaped like a pen and is connected to a VDU/ monitor. It allows you to point and make selections more accurately on a screen.

TOUCH-SENSITIVE SCREEN This pointing device lets you interact with computer by touching the screen. The pointer is the human finger.
